Just a few thoughts
·
Australia destroys its reputation as the land of
the “Fair Go, Mate”
·
I wonder how many voters did actually bother to
read the Uluru Statement From The Heart.
·
The big handicap facing the YES case was the
information booklet that every household received before the referendum day. It
contained the explanation for the YES case and for the NO case! It was legal
for those statements to contain lies and misinformation!
The statements were FACT CHECKED by independent experts. They determined
that the YES case contained ONE line that was Questionable. The NO case
contained 10 statements all of which were INCORRECT or Questionable. Did you
hear or read the outcry in the media?
·
Did you hear or read our Archbishop’s intention
to vote YES? Nor did we!
·
Meanwhile the Catholic Church is working hard at
examining and facing the Church’s problems. So we hope to now focus on Synod
news.
Reflections
ü Homily
on the referendum. – Frank Brennan
ü Could
we please take some time to reflect on the reasons why Australia failed to
recognise our indigenous peoples as the First Nations People with a Voice about
their future.
