Obstacles to the Common Good

Just a few thoughts

·       "Do not be too timid and squeamish about your actions. All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better. What if they are a little coarse, and you may get your coat soiled or torn? What if you do fail, and get fairly rolled in the dirt once or twice. Up again, you shall never be so afraid of a tumble." -- Ralph Waldo Emerson

·       "It's the possibility that keeps me going, not the guarantee." -- Nicholas Sparks

·       May Pope Francis and all the participants in the Synod, gathering in St Peter’s Square this evening in prayer for migrants and refugees, be a strong witness of concern for those in desperate situations.

Reflections

ü Teaching must be one of the hardest things in the world to do. As hard as loving – because it is akin to it.

ü Jesus doesn’t condemn sinners, but only the self-righteous.

ü Is this the most bizarre parable Jesus ever told? – Last Sunday reflection

The Signs Of The Times

Ø Synod’s second week starts with call to steer into tensions

Ø ‘Sympathetic outsider’ says Church can be country’s great intermediary
