Just a few thoughts
·
Was NAIDOC Week celebrated in our parish last
week?
·
During the week, the Vatican released the long awaited 450 page report on Theodore McCarrick who was a cardinal and
one-time archbishop of Washington.
Many in the Church knew he was involved in sexually abuse.
Pope John Paul II dismissed the concerns and appointed him as bishop anyway.
Then he appointed him as a cardinal. McCarrick was such an insider that his
supporters were able to circumvent the usual checks and balances.
The findings of the McCarrick report are devastating. Our leaders like Pope John
Paul II failed to acknowledge and act on his abusive activity.
