There are so many interesting items in today’s
news. Just take your pick!
Fr Richard Leonard always provides an interesting modern point of view.

Feast of
St Blaise – When I was a youngster in Holland this feast was taken seriously.
Many people were fishers and fish was common food. There was a special Mass
where people would receive a blessing for protection against throat disease
[especially protection from fish bones stuck in the throat] The blessing
involved a prayer as the priest placed 2 candles across the person’s throat.
