¯ We pray for moral leadership among the Israeli people and the Palestinians, so that, freed from violence, there may be a lasting peace in the Holy Land.

¯ The Pope has set a next goal for the whole Church, which we can express in the famous verses of Antonio Machado: Caminante, no hay camino, se have camino al andar - Wayfarer, the path is not there, it is to be made by walking.

¯ We pray for all who are engaged in implementing Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato si’, that their seven-year plan will unite us all in caring for the earth, our common home

·        Hostility to the Church and believers is generally recognised as its greatest threat. I beg to differ. Indifference is the demon, which was well-and-truly abroad in our culture even before the scandals of child abuse.  --  Geraldine Doogue

·        We pray for parish communities challenged by the shortage of priests, that the gifts of the baptised faithful may be identified and made best use of.

·        For each of us, that we will use wisely the gifts which we have received from God for the good of others.

ü Today we are asked to reflect on the special gifts that God has given to each one of us and how we are using them for the benefit of brothers and sisters in need. What are our attitudes to money, to property, to professional status, academic or other qualifications or other gifts with which we are endowed? Where do we invest our gifts, our talents both inborn and acquired?

·        On this International Day for Tolerance may we find inspiration in this year’ theme: “Tolerance is respect, acceptance, and appreciation of the rich diversity of our world’s cultures, our forms of expression and ways of being human.”

·        We pray for those who struggle with underemployment, that they will find their way to fuller and satisfying work
