Forgive from your heart.

Hello Tranmere community.
Fr Timothy Radcliffe shares this story to conclude his homily for this Sunday:
We cannot go to heaven alone. Charles Péguy, the French poet, tells us that if we try to God will say: ‘Where are the others?’ We come with our fellow servants.
When a selfish woman died, the angels struggled to find a reason to smuggle her into heaven. Then they remembered that she had once given an onion to a beggar. So they lowered down an onion on its string to where she was swimming in the sea of Hell.
She swam towards it and clung on and the angels began to pull her up. But others came after her and tried to hold on to it too, but she kicked them off shouting, ‘It’s mine.’
The string broke.

It is out of the abundance of the heart that the mouth speaks

 Hi all.
On Thursday we asked RUOK?
On Friday we reflected on the state of the institution and its response to the Royal Commission.
That led me to ask the question  - How OK are we in our parish about its relationship with the institution? Please share your thoughts.

My family arrived in SA in September 1959. We watched episodes on the Black & White screen at the home of Joe & Pat Garreffa. This family was a fantastic support for our family as we settled in Norton Summit as new settlers.
Joe’s funeral occurred yesterday. R.I.P.

Can a blind person lead another blind person?

Hello Tranmere community.
Today’s gospel is a powerful one!   Are we the blind leading the blind?
Pope Francis once said. “Who am I to judge?” For me that was an incredibly powerful statement for a Pope to make.
Pope Francis has my admiration for being a leader of the ‘ordinary’ people.
He does not fight the vested interests in the Vatican or the egocentric defenders of dogmatic clericalism.
His focus is on the ordinary people – the Body of Christ in today’s world.
There is a massive crisis in the institutional church as exposed by the Royal Commission.
Here are 2 articles that summarise the current situation –

ü  International Literacy Day

Literacy is a human right, a tool of personal empowerment and a means for social and human development. Educational opportunities depend on literacy. Literacy is at the heart of basic education for all, and essential for eradicating poverty, reducing child mortality, curbing population growth, achieving gender equality and ensuring sustainable development, peace and democracy. There are good reasons why literacy is at the core of Education for All.
The St Vincent de Paul Society has a special program - The Assist a Student Program – it gives you the opportunity to provide funding to support the education of a student in one of our partner countries for one year.
It is often referred to as a gateway out of poverty.
