The Transfiguration

Just a few thoughts

·        True joy comes from doing God’s will, - Pope

·        "No one is in control of your happiness but you; therefore, you have the power to change anything about yourself or your life that you want to change."  --  -- Barbara de Angelis

·        For one another, that we will be renewed in Christ and follow God’s way of goodness, holiness and truth.  --  Let us pray to the Lord

Who do you say that I am?

Just a few thoughts

·        Scientific discoveries are energising the queries not just about the possibility of rational, or intelligent, life in the universe, but also about God’s role in life elsewhere and if there may be an incarnational experience beyond Earth.

·        May this Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day, with its theme, ‘Proud in Culture, Strong in Spirit’, ensure that they have a respected place within every school community, teaching their peers about their traditions.  --  Lord, hear us.

Reflection.

ü May our faith be as solid as a rock, remaining steadfast in the face of the challenges that will test it, and may our conversations with Jesus always be intimate and familiar.

The Canaanite woman

Just a few thoughts

·        The feast of St John Vianney, the patron of parish priests

·        May St John Vianney, who received his Christian formation and received the Sacraments in secrecy during the French Revolution, inspire priests today to be strong and determined in their vocation to lead the young to Jesus, as they now grow up in a very secular society.  --  Lord, hear us.

The Rocky Boat

Just a few thoughts

·        "Each of us has been put on earth with the ability to do something well. We cheat ourselves and the world if we don't use that ability as best we can."  --  -- Gracie Allen

·        Catholics are called to mature in faith, leaving behind self-interest.  --  Pope Francis
The Church is a disturbingly rocky boat. Should we get off and like Peter focus on Jesus?

·        For the whole human family, that this week’s anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima will strengthen its resolve to free the world of nuclear weapons.  --  Let us pray to the Lord.

"I am the bread of life

Just a few thoughts

·        The Church too must be a large room. Not a small and closed circle, but a community with arms wide open, welcoming to all. Let us ask ourselves this question: when someone approaches who is hurting, who has made a mistake, who has gone astray in life, is the Church, this Church, a room large enough to welcome this person and lead him or her to the joy of an encounter with Christ?

Let us not forget that the Eucharist is meant to nourish those who are weary and hungry along the way. A Church of the pure and perfect is a room with no place for anyone. On the other hand, a Church with open doors, that gathers and celebrates around Christ, is a large room where everyone—everyone, the righteous and sinners—can enter.
